| ABOUT THE EVENT/ ACTVITY |  14 March 2016, New DelhiSkill Council for Green Jobs grooms first cropof professionals NEW DELHI:The renewable energy sector,facing a huge skill shortage in the face of ambitious expansion, will get a new cropof professionals from the Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ) initiative, launched in May last year. SCGJ aims to train 28,800 professionals in 2016-17 Of these, 20,000 will be in the solar photo voltaic segment, 2,500 in operations related to wind energy, 1,500 in solid waste management and 1,500 in water management. The National Institute of Solar Energy (Gurgaon) , National Institute of Wind Energy(Chennai) and National Institute of Bio Energy (Jalandhar) along with 12 other institutes (all of them private) will carry out the training. “We have visited their campuses, looked into their facilities and whether they have the capacity to teach courses we want,”said SCGJ Chief Executive Praveen Saxena.  |
